Mi n i n g Brigus Gold intersects high-grades by Vanessa MacLean Brigus Gold Corp. [BRD-TSX] is a growing international gold producer which has recently been developing projects on their 100%-owned Black Fox Complex located within the gold district of Timmins, Ontario. Withing the complex, Birgus Gold continued exploration and drilling on its Grey Fox Property in 2012. The property is situ- ated 4 km southeast of the operating Black Fox gold mine and mill, wholly owned by Brigus Gold. The Black Fox Mine is currently producing, and is anticipated to reach steady state production levels of 90,000-100,000 gold ounces in 2013. On January 9, 2013 the company reported results from its ongoing drill program at the 147 and Contact zones located on the nearby Grey Fox property. Highlights include high-grade intercepts of 14 grams gold/ tonne over 35 metres and 4.7 grams over 29 metres. With these new assay results, the ore body has been defined to a true vertical depth of 300 metres below surface. This new data increased the resource by more than 50%, with the possibility of further expansion. In addition, this new data was compiled with the September 2012 resource estimates of 480,859 indicated ounces and 91,061 inferred ounces in the region. This data was aggregated within 200m of the surface suggesting significant potential for open pit mining. Brigus plans to extend and expand the 147 and Contact Zones in 2013, with a focus on systematic drilling along strike of the trend, and below 200 metres. They plan on developing the property into the company's next mine and will be releasing a full feasibility study during the second half of 2013 with hopes of production to begin in early 2015. Drilling was conducted by Norex Drilling and supervised by the Brigus exploration team. Polymet Labs analysed all samples using fire assay procedures which is ISO 9001:2000 certified in North America. QAQC procedures of the samples included duplicates, standards and the insertion of blanks. Brigus also has the Goldfields Project located near Uranium City, Saskatchewan, as well as their Ixhuatan Project, Chiapas, Mexico. Brigus recently sold three mineral exploration projects located in the Dominican Republic. n www.resourceworld.com 50 www.resourceworld.com february 2013
