MINING
North American Palladium Ltd. [PDL-TSX; PALDF-OTC], which
operates the only pure palladium mine in the world, has signed a
contract with Redpath Canada for underground mine development
at its Lac des Iles Mine northwest of Thunder Bay, Ontario.
The 6,000 tonne-per-day mine, which has both open pit and
underground operations, will see production of 12,000 tonnes
per day when the expansion program is completed. Expected to
take about two years, the mine expansion by Redpath comprises
approximately 6,550 metres of lateral development and 560 metres
of vertical development to access ore reserves in the upper mine
beneath and around the perimeter of the dormant Roby open pit.
With over 500 employees, the mine has been in production for
over 20 years. For Q3 2018, underground production was 565,277
tonnes (6,144 tpd) at an average grade of 3.2 g/t palladium com

pared to 500,560 tonnes (5,441 tpd) averaging 3.8 g/t palladium in
Q3 2017. The company produced 56,852 ounces of payable palla-
dium at an All-Inclusive Sustaining Cost (AISC) of US $733/oz in
Q3 2018 compared to 53,118 ounces of palladium at an AISC of US
$688/oz in Q3 2017.
