Agnico-Eagle Mines Ltd. [AEM-TSX, NYSE] operates the Lapa and La Ronde underground mines in the Abitibi region, northwest Québec. Lapa is expected to pour 97,000 oz gold in 2013. LaRonde is Agnico Eagle's flagship operation at 7,200 tpd and currently has a mine life lasting through to 2026. Alexandria Minerals Corp. [AZX-TSXV] reported assay results from drilling received after the release of the NI 43-101-compliant resource update at the Akasaba Project near Val d'Or. DDH IAX-12-219 intersected 178.50 metres grading 0.27 g/t gold, plus 0.25% copper (0.70 g/t gold Equivalent), which indicates the West Zone extends an additional 100 metres below the 300-metre deep resource and is open at depth. Amex Exploration Inc. [AMX-TSXV] has granted Agnico-Eagle Mines an option to acquire an undivided 51% interest in the Perron property. The road accessible Perron gold project is about 5 km northwest from the Normetal Mine town in the Abitibi region. Amex also holds the Cameron and Normetal properties in Québec. Balmoral Resources Ltd. [BAR-TSX] has an exploration budget of $3.8 million for this year. The summer 2013 program will focus on the further delineation and expansion of the high-grade gold discoveries at Martiniere and on continued advancement of a number of high-priority targets throughout the 650 km2 Detour gold trend project area, including discoveries in the Grasset and Detour East areas. Beaufield Resources Inc. [BFD-TSXV] has a $2 million exploration budget for this summer. Funds will be directed to the Opinaca, Tortigny and Schefferville projects. Field work is under way at the Tortigny prospect to ascertain the source of boulders that assayed up to 8% copper and 50 g/t silver. Canada Lithium Corp. [CLQ-TSX] reports the first lithium carbonate samples have been produced from the company's new mine and processing plant near Val d'Or. The kiln, recently granted operational approval by the Canadian Standards Association, is functioning at design temperatures, and commissioning of downstream components of the hydrometallurgical plant is continuing. Caribou King Resources Ltd. [CKRTSXV; CB8-FSE] reports that exploration has commenced at its TAC and Lac Vert properties, both situated in southwest Québec, and at Calumet, located approximately 96 km west of Montreal in the Laurentian Hills. The properties are prospective for large flake, crystalline graphite and have a historic record of exploration and production for graphite mineralization. Reconnaissance sampling, mapping and line cutting for magnetic, beep mat, and IP geophysical surveys are underway on the properties. Cartier Resources Inc. [ECR-TSXV] reports drill results returned intersections of 12.3 g/t gold over 1.0 metre included within an interval of 27.0 metres grading 1.1 g/t as well as 7.5 g/t over 1.0 metre included within an interval of 10.0 metres grading 1.0 g/t. The results are from five holes conducted beneath the Pusticamica deposit at the Benoist property. The program confirmed the continuity and the potential of the mineralization between 450 and 700 metres in depth. Century Iron Mines Corp. [FER-TSX] has iron ore properties in western Québec south of James Bay and in the Labrador Trough that spans northeast Québec and western Newfoundland and Labrador. The company recently filed a Preliminary Economic Assessment for its Joyce Lake direct shipping ore project, part of its Attikamagen Project 15 km northeast of Schefferville. NPV (at 8% discount rate) is $90.4 million with an IRR of 37% pre-tax and 27.1% after-tax. Champion Iron Mines has a 44% interest. Champion Iron Mines Ltd. [CHM-TSX; CPMNF-OTCQX; P02-FSE] is advancing its Fermont Iron Holdings, including its flagship Consolidated Fire Lake North Project, near five producing iron mines, existing transportation and power infrastructure.
