[ALM-TSXV] is focused on the gold, silver and copper prospects that comprise its Placerita Project near Prescott, Arizona. On February 26, the company announced it was tendering a 10-hole campaign at its Southern Placerita property, seeking to test extensions of the historic Silver Crown Mine. The secondary target is the Gold Beetle claim area. American Bonanza Gold Corp. [BZATSX] operates the Copperstone gold mine in La Paz County, Arizona. The mine produced 1,041 ounces gold in May compared with 815 ounces in April and 670 ounces for March. On June 12, the company announced it had signed a letter of intent with Suparna Gold Corp. [SUG-TSXV]. Suparna will be able to acquire up to 60% in certain mining claims and property that comprise the Copperstone Mine's Southwest target. American CuMo Mining Corp. [MLYTSXV; MLYCF-OTCQX] wholly-owns the CuMo molybdenum, copper and silver project near Boise, Idaho. On May 7, the company announced results from a nine-hole, 2012, diamond drill campaign; highlights included infill hole 64-12, which graded 0.122% molybdenum sulfide across 271.3 metres. Atlanta Gold Inc. [ATG-TSXV; ATLDF-OTCQX] is focused on its Atlanta gold-silver project near Boise, Idaho. The property contains 752,000 ounces gold and 1.66 million ounces silver indicated. On June 26, Atlanta announced encouraging results for metallurgical test work on 11 tons of bulk sample material. On July 3, SEPTEMBER 2013 it also reported on-going success with its passive water filtration system. Augusta Resource Corp. [AZC-TSX; NYSE Amex] is advancing the Rosemont copper project near Tucson, Arizona, which is scheduled to enter production in 2015. The property currently hosts proven and probable reserves containing 5.9 billion lbs (2.68 million tonnes) copper, 194 million lbs of molybdenum and 4.86 million ounces silver. On July 1, Augusta announced the US Forest Service had delivered the project's preliminary administrative Final Environmental Impact Statement to federal, state and local agencies for final comment. Bayswater Uranium Corp. [BYU-TSXV] holds, through a subsidiary that controls project operator AUC LLC., an 11.95% stake in the Reno Creek uranium project in Wyoming. On January 31, the company unveiled a positive feasibility study for the project, estimating a start-up in Q1 2016 and a life-of-mine output of 15.6 million lbs U3O8. Calico Resources Corp. [CKB-TSXV; CVXHF-OTCQX] wholly-owns the Grassy Mountain gold project in Malheur County, Oregon. The underground project is now in the permitting stage, with focus centred on baseline data collection and a water sampling program. On January 14, Calico released results from hole CAL 12R17 drilled in 2012, which intersected an average of 2 g/t gold from 65-845 ft (237.7 metres in length). Castle Mountain Mining Company Ltd. [CMM-TSXV] has released the final results from its completed Phase 1 drill program at the company's past-producing Castle Mountain Project in San Bernardino County, California. The average intercept of the final three holes was 21 metres at an average grade of 0.85 gram per tonne gold. The number of intervals per hole ranged from five to six with interval lengths ranging from three metres to 119 metres. One of the better holes was 74 metres of 2.44 g/t gold. Copper Fox Metals Inc. [CUU-TSXV] has two prospects in Arizona; the Sombrero Butte Project 44 miles northeast of Tucson and the Van Dyke Project 90 miles east of Phoenix – both copper properties. At Sombrero Butte, the company has planned a sampling program. The objective is to find the source of the mineralized breccias pipes where drilling has returned assays that included 1.06% copper over 48 metres and 4.74% copper over 22 metres. A deep-penetrating IP survey is also planned. At Van Dyke, some 6,000 boxes of old drill core will be re-logged and possibly re-assayed. A drilling program is also planned. Freeport McMoRan Copper & Gold Inc. [FCX-NYSE] has a suite of copper and copper-molybdenum operations across Arizona, Colorado, and New Mexico. Together, they comprise its North America division. All are wholly-owned except the Morenci open-pit mining complex, Arizona, in which Freeport holds an 85% stake. The company is initiating an expansion program at Morenci, targeting an annual output of 225 million lbs copper for 2014, roughly 40% higher than 2012. Total copper output for the North American division in Q1 2013 stood at 343 million lbs copper and 8 million lbs of molybdenum, which compares with 337 million lbs copper and 10 million lbs molybdenum in Q1 2012. Golden Queen Mining Co. Ltd. [GQMTSX] is advancing an open-pit, heap-leach operation at its fully-permitted Soledad Mountain gold-silver property in Kern County, southern California. In October 2012, the company unveiled an updated feasibility study that estimates an annual output of 77,000 ounces gold and 890,000 ounces silver from years two to 14 of mine life. Initial capex has been assessed at $107 million. Hecla Mining Company [HL-NYSE] announced, on February 19, that its Lucky Friday Mine in Idaho was back on stream. Rehabilitation work started in January 2012. The company estimates full-year 2013 output at around 2 million ounces silver.
