and 590,000 ounces gold inferred. Rare Element Resources Ltd. [RES-TSX] wholly-owns the Bear Lodge rare earth element project in Wyoming. On June 13, the company announced the start of its 2013 drill program, which will focus on Whitetail Ridge Zone. At a 1.5% total rare earth oxide (TREO) cut-off, total measured and indicated resources for Bear Lodge are currently 14.65 million tons at 3.22% TREO for 944 million lbs TREO contained. Revett Minerals Inc. [RVM-TSX] holds the silver-copper Troy Mine and is developing the Rock Creek silver-copper project, both located in Montana. On December 17, the company announced suspension of operations at Troy due to unstable ground conditions and a subsequent rock fall along the operation's main haulage route. Redevelopment work has been ongoing since. Revett is now also introducing costreduction measures, including cuts to the workforce. Rio Tinto Plc. [RIO-NYSE, LSE] holds the Bingham Canyon copper mine and other facilities in Utah through its subsidiary Kennecott Utah Copper. Bingham's output also includes molybdenum, gold and silver. On April 10, a massive slide occurred at the mine, causing severe disruption to operations, with a 50% reduction in production projected for 2013. In response, Kennecott is cutting costs and seeking to reduce workforce levels. Rio Tinto also holds a 55% stake 34 www.resourceworld.com in Resolution Copper, which is developing the Resolution copper project in Arizona. In California, Rio Tinto's subsidiary Rio Tinto Minerals operates an open-pit borates mine near the town of Boron and produces trona at Ownes Lake. Stillwater Mining Co. [SWC.U-TSX; SWC-NYSE] operates the Montana-located Stillwater and East Boulder mines, both palladium and platinum operations. Stillwater produced 71,000 ounces palladium and 21,000 ounces platinum in Q1 2013, while East Boulder produced 27,000 ounces palladium and 8,000 ounces platinum. Development work by Stillwater also continues, with the Graham Creek Project at the East Boulder Mine on schedule to come on stream in late 2014. Stonegate Agricom Ltd. [ST-TSX] holds the Paris Hills phosphate project in Bear Lake County, Idaho. On December 10, the company unveiled a feasibility study for developing an underground mine at the project's Lower Phosphate Zone. Mine life is estimated at 19 years, with a total of 16.7 million tonnes of direct-ship, concentrate-quality phosphate rock produced. On April 18, Stonegate announced that its wholly-owned subsidiary Paris Hills Agricom Inc. had obtained phosphate mineral leases from the State of Idaho. The leases grant the right to mine phosphate in areas for which the subsidiary previously held state-issued exploration permits. Strathmore Minerals Corp. [STM-TSX; STHJF-OTCQX] has a suite of uranium properties in New Mexico and Wyoming, focusing on Roca Honda in New Mexico and the Gas Hills in Wyoming. On May 24, it was announced that Energy Fuels Inc. [EFR-TSX; EFRFF-OTCQX] had signed a letter of intent to acquire Strathmore. Both companies confirmed a definitive arrangement agreement on June 11. On July 2, Strathmore reported the $3 million sale of its Pine Tree-Reno Creek 5% gross revenue uranium production royalty to AUC LLC. Sutter Gold Mining Inc. [SGM-TSXV] is advancing the Lincoln Mine gold project in Amador County, California, with firstphase development underway. On July 3, the company announced the implementation of cost-cutting measures in response to current economic conditions and gold's price performance. Changes include new senior management, while around onethird of staff positions at the Lincoln Mine site have been eliminated. Terraco Gold Corp. [TEN-TSXV] owns the Almaden gold project in western Idaho, which has a resource containing 239,000 ounces gold measured and 625,000 ounces gold indicated. The latest drill results from Almaden were released in September 2012. Highlights included hole TAL-787C, which returned an intersect of 1.065 g/t gold from 3.7- 64.0 metres.
