[BGM-TSXV] has been staging an encouraging come-back after suffering through a cease-trade order in August 2012 after issuing a hard-to-believe estimate of gold resources at its 100%-owned Caribou gold project near the historic min - ing town of Barkerville in central British Columbia. Consultant Geoex Ltd. had stated that the Cow Mountain area of the proj- ect had indicated resources of 10.6 million ounces of gold. During the cease-trade order, the company hired new consultants, Snowden Mining Industry Consultants Inc., and in July 2013, released an updated estimate that stated Cow Mountain had resources of around 4.9 million indicated and inferred ounces. Shares were reinstated for trading in October 2013. At the request of Snowden, Barkerville Gold Mines twinned a number of holes. Drill hole CM12-01C returned 12.4 metres grad - ing of 11.10 g/t gold between 8.4 and 20.7 metres, including 6.2 metres of 15.98 g/t gold between 9.5 and 15.7 metres (31.2 and 51.5 feet), including 2.9 metres of 31.28 g/t gold between 12.8 and 15.7 metres. Other holes returned equally encouraging assays. The company has also implemented a screen metallic fire assay program for its Gold Quartz (Cow Mountain) prospect. APEX Geoscience Ltd., geological consultants, has completed a preliminary review of data resulting from the Cow Mountain double assay program. As of December 9, 2013, a total of 2,056 core samples yielded a 20.9% increase in the mean (average) screen metallic fire assays grade as well as a 16.0% increase in the mean length-weighted metallic fire assay grade versus the corresponding origi - nal standard 30 gram fire assay. On December 16, 2013, Barkerville Gold Mines reported further metallic fire assay results. Drill hole CM11-25B returned 17.5 metres grading 104.8 g/t gold between 105.2 and 122.7 metres, including 6.4 metres of 280.5 g/t gold between 114.3 and 120.7 metres. Hole CM11-27 returned 17.4 meters grading 25.71 g/t gold between 78.9 and 96.3 metres, including 2.1 metres of 206.2 g/t gold between 78.9 and 81.1 metres. Hole CM11- 87 returned 13.4 metres of 15.48 g/t gold between 229.9 and 243.3 metres, including 6.3 metres of 25.62 g/t gold between 237.0 and 243.3 metres. Holes CM11-31, CM11-35 and CM11-38 also returned excellent grades over good widths. Barkerville Gold Mines is currently tak - ing steps to commence open pit production at the Bonanza Ledge area of the Caribou gold project, expected to begin in the first quarter of 2014. Ore will be trucked to the company's QR mill located 58 km southeast of Quesnel. Meanwhile, APEX Geoscience has been engaged to conduct an extensive and ongoing digital data compilation and a trench mapping and sampling campaign on the company's nearby Island Mountain pros - pect. n Barkerville Gold Mines reports high-grade gold intercepts By Ellsworth Dickson
