This year is special for Nevada as October 31 will mark the Silver State's
150th birthday. And while tourism and gambling now constitute the bulk
of its income, its mining sector, the State's
raison d'être, remains robust
and well supported. This is reflected in the Fraser Institute's policy
perception of global mining jurisdictions, with Nevada ranked eight
out of 112 last year. The only US state to come higher was Wyoming at
number five. In addition, Nevada is listed second in the attractiveness
investment index, just behind Western Australia. It also scored highly
in other categories, with infrastructure and stable legislation deemed
particularly noteworthy.
