The Cat 6020B features a
22-tonne payload and 224-tonne
operating weight and teams with the Cat
777G Off-Highway Truck for optimized
loading and hauling. The new shovel was
designed for high production and easy
service using a modular construction
allowing easy access to components and
simple shipping and assembly.
"This is a flexible, fast machine," says
Real Moreau, Assistant General Foreman,
Rosebel Gold Mine, Suriname. The mine
has been testing a pre-production version
of the 6020B. "It gives us high performance
and provides the production we want. Cost
efficiency, fuel efficiency, full power—this
is what we get from the 6020B."
The shovel is powered by a 778-kW
(1,043-hp) Cat C32 ACERT™ engine.
Dedicated pumps move hydraulic oil
through the cooling circuit when needed
to maintain optimum oil temperature and
keep the machine working even in the
most demanding climates.
The 6020B also features an automatic
lubricant system. The hydraulically driven
pump supplies grease to the swing bear-
ing, the swing gearbox bearing and all
pivot points of the attachment.
"The 6020B is configured as a back-
hoe and delivers superior digging forces
for high productivity," says Caterpillar.
"It handles a standard bucket size of
12.0 cubic metres (15.7 cubic yards). Cat
MultiPlus™ rock buckets are suited for
standard rock and soil applications, and
high abrasion rock buckets are more heav-
ily guarded for use in dense rock and
aggressive digging conditions."
The 6020B comes equipped with
diagnostic capabilities and troubleshoot-
ing functions to monitor operating data,
record faults, and notify the operator audi-
bly and visually.
