MINING
T
here's been a bit of good news out of the
Yukon recently. The Yukon government
announced that it is assisting the min-
eral industry by "providing double the value
for filed mineral exploration work on claims
for the next year, starting February 1." In a
January 26 announcement it was explained
that the initiative will help claimholders keep
their claims in good standing.
A representative for the Yukon Ministry
of Economic Development told Resource
World that the estimated total Yukon explora-
tion budget for the 2015 field season is $80
to $100 million. Most notably, a few Yukon
companies continue to report some excellent
exploration results despite the bleak metals
markets and difficult economic environment.
Kaminak Gold Corp. [KAM-TSXV] has
reported some outstanding drill results several
times this year already from their 100%-owned
Coffee Gold Project, 130 km south of Dawson
City in the Yukon's White Gold District.
Kaminak's 2015 drill season was off to an early
start, with mobilization beginning in January
and drilling commencing on February 1. Tony
Reda, Vice President of Corporate develop-
ment for Kaminak, told Resource World that
there are currently four drills turning on the
property with plans to ramp up to a nine-drill
program in May. Reda said the drill program's
primary purpose is convert inferred resources
into indicated resources in addition to complet-
ing all other feasibility study requirements.
The company is taking care to consult with
their qualified person to ensure they under-
take the drilling required to convert resources
to a higher category of confidence. So far, Reda
says, drill results are consistent with the com-
pany's resource model.
Early 2016 is when the company expects
to complete a $21 million feasibility study.
