[GRG-TSXV; GAC-FSE], who has been active in Argentina for 23 years and participated in three signifi- cant mineral discoveries, spoke to Resource World. "What attracted me to Argentina was its location just east of Chile which has been developing an incredible mining economy for the last hundred years with major companies, major mines, and major production that help fuel other industries," said Grosso. "Other foreign mining investors also saw Argentina's potential and over 270 companies flocked to Argentina." "Unfortunately, there were political problems such as a border dispute that resulted in a 100-km no-man's buffer zone that has eventually opened up," explained Grosso. This was critical as there is, like Chile, a favourable geological environment in Argentina for hosting economic mineral deposits along much of the 4,500-km long shared border. The Kirchner government has been favouring the development of its wine, agriculture and beef industries but could have done more for the natural resources sector. Grosso is of the view that a new administration would play "catch up" and strive to support resource development. He said that foreign mining investors would like to work with the government to help achieve this objective. Commenting on the new president-elect, Grosso said, "I view the election of Mauricio Macri as a positive development. He is an engineer who has said that he has a long list of issues he wishes to resolve". President Mauricio Macri named his cabinet and created the Ministerio de Energía y Minería (the Ministry of Energy and Mines) which will be headed by Juan José Aranguren who has worked for Shell for 34 years and has been the CEO of Shell Argentina since 2003.
