Photo courtesy Broadway Gold Mining Ltd. Here is a selection of junior and mid-tier miners with the 'right stuff' by Ellsworth Dickson As readers of Resource World magazine know, picking mining stocks is a tricky and specialized endeavour. And while the further advanced a project becomes, thereby providing less risk, even the most successful commodity producers are sub - ject to events and circumstances beyond their control. These include variable commodity prices, supply and demand, geopolitical events, environmental, First Nation and community opposition, and prevailing investor sentiment, to name a few. Don't under estimate the power of prevailing market sentiment. Misguided investors sometimes buy and sell their stocks for questionable reasons that have nothing to do with realistic valua - tions, resulting in overbought or oversold situations. Despite the many risks facing explo- ration and mining companies, Resource World has reported on many very success- ful junior and senior mining stocks over the years as well as some that didn't make it. Seasoned mining stock investors always look at the basics, the three M's: Money, Management and Mineral Project. If a company has money to explore or sustain mining operations, or has the ability to raise it, has management with a proven track record, and a worthy min - eral project, the stock is already somewhat de-risked; however, there also needs to be a scheduled plan of exploration and/or development unfolding. Below are eight companies that I find worthy of consideration. Broadway Gold Mining Ltd. [BRD- TSXV; BDWYF-OTCQB] holds a 100% interest in the Madison gold and cop - per project, subject to royalties, located near Silver Star, about 38 km southeast of Butte, Montana. The property, which hosts a gold-copper skarn deposit and a potentially deeper, copper-gold porphyry deposit, has extensive underground devel - opment and related facilities. The Madison Mine also hosts the Broadway gold mine, where historic pro- duction between the 1880s and the 1950s yielded an estimated 450,000 tons aver- aging 0.32 oz/ton gold from 6,000 feet of underground workings to a vertical depth of 750 feet. Drill programs and bulk sampling were completed by the previous owner at the Madison Mine between 2005 and 2012. A crushing plant, certified weigh scale and sufficient power exist on the property. In 2008, the first oxide gold ore averaging 0.694 oz/ton was shipped to Barrick Gold's nearby Golden Sunlight Mine. The first sulphide gold ore averaging 0.71 oz/ton was shipped to Kinross Gold's Republic Mine in Washington in 2009. The company has contracted Groundhog Mining to rehabilitate the underground workings to enable the technical and operational team to access underground workings. A property-wide deep induced polarization (IP) survey has been completed to test for a deeper copper-gold porphyry deposit. A surface drilling program is also planned. White Gold Corp. [WGO-TSXV], for - merly G4G Capital Corp., recently acquired the Yukon mineral properties from noted Yukon prospector Shawn Ryan who is now a director of the company. Ryan and his wife, Cathy Wood, have had remark- able success in farming out properties where important gold deposits were dis- covered; namely the Kinross Gold White Gold Project and Goldcorp's Coffee Gold Project. White Gold has exercised its option to acquire 100% of Ryan's 21 properties, comprising seven projects encompassing approximately 12,301 quartz claims located in the White Gold District. Preliminary exploration has yielded several highly prospective targets. The claim packages are bordered by significant gold discover - ies owned by majors including Kinross, Goldcorp and Western Copper & Gold. The region was made famous by
