A P R I L / M A Y 2 0 1 7 www.resourceworld.com 45 IN EARLY FEBRUARY, Aurion Resources Ltd. [AU-TSXV] reported that prospecting and reconnaissance mapping resulted in the discovery of new, bonanza-grade, gold mineralization on its 100%-owned Risti Project in northern Finland. The zone of gold mineralization, first discovered in late 2016 – named the Aurora Zone – measures 1,150-metre long by 700-metres wide with an apparent NE-SW trend. Here, 133 rock grab samples collected from predominantly large and angular sub-cropping quartz-tourmaline blocks assayed from nil to bonanza-grade 1,563.5 g/t gold, including 36 samples which assayed greater than 31 g/t gold (1 oz/ton). The average grade of all 133 sam- ples is a very encouraging 74.3 g/t gold. Many of these samples contain abundant coarse visible gold. Numerous quartz blocks within this trend are > 1 m in at least one dimension and locally reach up to 3.5 m by 3 m by 1 m in size. The Aurora Zone lies within a broader area of approximately 2.3 km by 3.0 km hosting multiple quartz-tourmaline-Fe- Oxide veins, breccias and stockworks outlined in outcrop, sub outcrop and angular boulders. A total of 525 rock grab samples from this area and including the Aurora Zone have assayed from nil to the above noted 1,563.5 g/t gold. The average assay of all samples is 21.0 g/t gold. The samples reported here are selec- tive grab samples and are not necessarily representative; however, they do demon- strate the abundance of coarse visible gold present within a robust gold mineralized system. The veins range from 0.1 m to >3 m wide, appear to be extensional in nature, and trending NE-SW. The Risti Project will be a primary focus of Aurion in 2017 exploring approximately 30 km along what may be interpreted as regional unconformities defined by the contact between the Kumpu Group con- glomerates and the older Sodankyla Group mafic and ultramafic volcanics. Aurion has recently acquired approxi- mately 40,000 hectares of new tenements focused on this highly prospective previ- ously un-recognized target concept within the Paleoproterozoic, Central Lapland Greenstone Belt (CLGB). The Risti Project, which comprises approximately 14,000 hectares, is east-southeast of and contigu- ous with Kutuvuoma but is 100%-owned by Aurion. Mike Basha, P.Eng., P.Geo., President and CEO of Aurion, said, "To have made such a high-grade gold discovery at surface is very encouraging and clearly demonstrates the underexplored nature of the CLGB. We look forward to the start of the field season to pursue this high-grade, gold mineralization in the context of a new target concept." In a separate development, Aurion com- pleted the purchase of the Kaaresselkä and Kiekerömaa gold projects from Tertiary Minerals plc, following the transfer of the Exploration Licences from Tertiary to Aurion by the mining division of the Finnish Safety and Chemical Agency (Tukes) and TSXV approval. The projects were pur- chased for a £100,000 consideration to be paid by Aurion in the form £15,000 in cash and £85,000 in Aurion shares and subject to certain royalties. Located about 4 km south-southwest of Risti, the 315-hectare Kaaresselkä Project comprises multiple shear zone hosted gold zones up to 16 metres wide and 650 metres long, adjacent to the Sirkka Shear Zone, a major regional deformation zone, that is host to more than 45 gold pros- pects. Multiple high grade drill intercepts including 11.0 g/t gold over 4.9 metres, 13.5 g/t gold over 2.75 metres, and 45.0 g/t gold over 2.0 metres have been reported. Located about 7 km south-southwest from Kutuvuoma, the 840-hectare Kiekerömaa Project hosts gold mineralization over a strike length of 300 metres. In late February, Aurion completed its previously announced non-brokered private placement of 5,783,997 common shares at a price of $1.50 per share, raising gross pro- ceeds of $8,675,995.50. Some of the proceeds will be used to explore the Risti Project. n Aurion Resources following up Finland gold discovery www.resourceworld.com MINING
