The following companies are meeting those challenges as they continue to explore and develop properties in Manitoba. Alamos Gold Inc.'s [AGI-TSX, NYSE] 100%-owned Lynn Lake gold project is a highly prospective past-producing gold camp consisting of five near-surface depos- its with significant existing infrastructure. The Lynn Lake Project consists of two primary deposits; the MacLellan Mine and the Farley Lake Mine, which were the subject of a positive preliminary economic study (PEA) released in February 2014. In January 2016, Alamos consolidated full ownership of Lynn Lake through its acqui- sition of Carlisle Goldfields. A Feasibility Study is expected in late Q3 2017. Ashburton Ventures Inc. [ABR-TSXV] has the Thompson Bros. lithium prop- erty located in Wekusko Lake, 20 km east of the mining community of Snow Lake. Ashburton describes the lithium deposit as a "spodumene-rich pegmatite dyke with a near vertical dip and a strike length of over 800 metres". An August 3 news release reported six drill holes completed with highlights including Hole TBL001: from 35.4 to 47 metres (11.6 metre inter- val) of 1.37 wt.% L i2 O and Hole TBL002 from 19 to 24.4 metres (5.43 metre interval) of 1.55 wt.% Li 2 O. The project is financed by Quantum Resources Ltd. [QUR-ASX] which can earn-in up to 80% of the project. Callinex Mines Inc.'s [CNX-TSXV; CLLXF-OTCQX] Manitoba zinc projects include the Pine Bay Project, the Flin Flon Project and the Big Island Project. On August 29, Callinex announced the start of a 6,000-metre, summer drill program at Pine Bay and Big Island. Big Island con- tains the Tara Lake deposit where previous drill results include 7.4 metres of 35% Zn Eq, 12.4m of 34% Zn Eq. and 19.6m of 24% Zn Eq. Drilling will test for additional mineralization related to the new zinc and gold-rich VMS discovery at the Pine Bay Project and a maiden drilling campaign at the Big Island Project. CanAlaska Uranium Ltd. [CVV-TSXV; CVVUF-OTCQB; DH7-FSE] has the NW Manitoba uranium project in north- west Manitoba just east of the border of northeast Saskatchewan 70 km north of Reindeer Lake covering 143,603 hectares. The project has similar geology to areas which include the Rabbit Lake, Collins Bay and Eagle Point Uranium mines 90 km to the southwest. In May 2017, CanAlaska announced results from reconnaissance drilling at their Nisku copper-zinc property located 7 km east of CanAlaska's North Ruttan copper-zinc property in the Leaf Rapids area of northern Manitoba. CanAlaska President, Peter Dasler, commented, "The Nisku drilling has confirmed another VMS target on our Ruttan area claims. It is encouraging to see the same association of copper-gold-silver mineralization as we see in our nearby North Ruttan Project. The Nisku property is 10 km from the former Ruttan Mine. Copper Reef Mining Corp. [CZC- CSE] is focusing on their 100%-owned, high-grade gold properties in the Snow Lake Camp. On August 10, Copper Reef announced the start of detailed sampling and mapping upon receipt of exploration permits in order to position drill holes for this winter's drill program. Last winter's drill program returned values up to 14.41 g/t gold over 3.3 metres. Corazon Mining Ltd. [CZN-ASX] is an Australian company conducting explora- tion drilling at the Fraser Lake Complex (FLC) just 5 km south of their Lynn Lake nickel property. Corazon is conducting exploration drilling and ground geophys- ics at FLC to test a potentially significant greenfield nickel-copper-cobalt sulphide discovery. Corazon states, "Lynn Lake is Canada's fourth largest nickel mining region, only recently surpassed by the Voisey's Bay Project." Corazon has com- pleted three Phases of drilling at FLC. All holes in the Phase 3 program were exten- sively mineralised for their entire lengths. In July, Far Resources Ltd. [FAT-CSE] announced that it had identified new spod- umene-bearing pegmatite dykes at is Zoro lithium property which covers a number of known lithium pegmatite occurrences located near Snow Lake and that the area of Dykes 5, 6 and 7 can be characterized as a dyke swarm. The company reported that a field crew mobilized to the property on July 14, 2017 has completed prospecting the area in and around Dykes 5, 6 and 7. Spodumene was confirmed in historic trenches and in surrounding outcrops for all of the dykes. The company initiated second round of exploration in August focusing on the area of historic Dykes 1, 2, 3, and 4. HudBay Minerals Inc. [HBM-TSX, NYSE] has three mines in Manitoba includ- ing the Lalor zinc-gold mine in Snow Lake with a 10-year mine life and an average throughput of 3,800 tpd.
