Corvus Gold
by Dr. Edward Schiller
ALTHOUGH NEVADA is known as the Silver State, in reality it
should have been called the Gold State as was demonstrated in the
2015 gold production of 5.3 million ounces valued at $1.2 billion
and representing 5.4% of the world's production. Between 1995
and 2015 the state has produced approximately 140 million ounces
of gold.
Nevada was made famous by the Carlin and Cortez Trends in
the central part of the state whereas a third structure, the Walker
Lane Trend in the southwestern part of the state, has become
a prominent gold and silver trend containing famous mining
camps such as Comstock (35 million AuEq oz), Round Mountain
(20 million oz Au) and Bullfrog (2.5 million Au oz).
