SASKATCHEWAN K+S Potash Canada [SDF-XETRA] announced that on October 24, the first ship carrying 30,000 tonnes of potash from its Bethune Mine to customers in Asia left its new potash handling and storage facil- ity at Pacific Coast Terminals (PCT) in Port Moody, BC. K+S partnered with PCT to help construct and operate the facility at PCT's bulk handling facility. In spring 2017, Canadian Pacific com- pleted 30 km of rail linking Bethune Mine to existing CP track. K+S Potash completed an additional 14 km of rail line linking the new track to the potash mine's load- ing facilities. Construction of the Bethune Mine began in 2012, commissioning began in summer of 2016, the mine's Grand Opening was celebrated in May 2017. The Mosaic Company [MOS-NYSE], the world's leading integrated producer and marketer of concentrated phosphate and potash employs ~9,000 people in six countries. Most of their potash comes from its three mines in Saskatchewan: a potash mining facility near Colonsay, a potash solution mine in Belle Plaine and a potash mining facility in Esterhazy. Mosaic states that construction of a new potash opera- tion in Esterhazy K3, "remains on target, with work expected to continue into 2024." The new Esterhazy operation, the company says, "is expected to be the larg- est, most competitive underground potash mine in the world". Western Potash Corp., a wholly owned subsidiary of Western Resources Corp. [WRX-TSXV; WRO-FSE], is devel- oping a solution mine on the Milestone Project in southern Saskatchewan. The company's Environmental Assessment was approved in June 2017. By 2020, Western Potash plans to have completed Phase I of project financing, construction and to have achieved production. As of August 2017, Western Potash has invested CDN $150 million in the project. Yancoal Canada Resources', (wholly- owned subsidiary of Yanzhou Coal Mining Co., Ltd. [YZE-OTC; HONG KONG]) Southey Project is a proposed solution potash mine approximately 60 km north of Regina. Projected production for the Southey Project is 2.8 million tonnes per year with a project life estimated to be 65 to 100 years. Construction is anticipated to begin in Q3 2017 with production start- ing in early 2021. URANIUM Appia Energy Corp.
