mineralization is also evident. High grades may be encountered within individual structures (i.e. ore shoots) within the lodes, a few examples being 0.5 metres of 1,620 g/t gold and 0.3 metres of 1,130 g/t gold. As a corporate director of the company since 2008, I took the opportunity to visit the project in mid-November when two diamond drills were operating and a third was on its way to the property. What proved readily apparent was the sheer momentum of the project where drilling is focused on extending the existing gold resource to the north and west of the existing decline. If the geometry of the lode deposits remain consistent along the strike axis as expected, the prospects for boosting gold resources in the coming months are excellent indeed. This would lead to acceleration in development plans that would see a second gold mine contribute to Fiji's economy in the not too distant future. One critical risk this project won't have is a high capital cost. The infrastructure in the region is second to none: a power line runs through the property; Nadi International Airport is visible from the mine property; and the region has a large pool of miners and a mining culture. Exploration logistics are first rate, with generally good access to exploration targets. The possibility of securing ore feed from multiple deposits and trucking to a centralized milling operation or aggregating gold production from a series of smaller independent plants near feed sources remains a plausible scenario that will no doubt be the subject of further study. The Fijian government remains highly supportive and is seeking to diversify the nation's economy which is heavily dependent on tourism and agriculture, mostly sugarcane. Early stage exploration licenses are held on the island of Vanua Levu which is located about 64 km to the northeast of the larger island, Viti Levu. The project area consists of five tenements all of which are positioned within the northeast trend of mineralized volcanic centres that hosts Fiji's known gold deposits. n DECEMBER 2012/JANUARY 2013 TSX: MOZ Developing gold resources in North America Contact: Christopher Haldane, Investor Relations Telephone: 416.987.0714 Website: www.marathon-gold.com www.resourceworld.com 57
