NWT about 300 km due east of Carmacks, and relatively remote, is a traditional stratiform copper deposit (kupferschiefer style). It has a historical resource estimate for its Coates Lake Zone of 33.4 million tonnes at 3.92% Cu and 11.3 g/t Ag (equivalent to 2.90 billion pounds of copper and 12.15 million troy ounces of silver), and was previously explored by Shell. The Transition Zone, a sequence of sedimentary beds where copper is concentrated, is laterally continuous for more than 6 km along strike of the limb of a huge synform, and extends down-dip for 2.4 km. New academic studies and current exploration (geophysical IP geochemical data, and geological field , mapping) are in the process of confirming its extent and grade in a longitudinal trend extending north-northwest from Coates Lake (near Nahanni National Park) for about 180 km through four more properties to the Lisa area. The Hidden Valley polymetallic zone (Cu-Ag-Zn-Bi-Co) consists of massive sulphide lenses, pods, and disseminated tetrahedrite – chalcopyrite. Also polymetallic, the Johnson Vein is a Cu-Ag- Zn-Ni-Co occurrence where massive sulphides returned 20.1% Cu, 123.0 g/t Ag, 0.16% Zn, 0.23% Ni, and 0.041% Co. A sedimentary-hosted stratiform copper showing at Hayhook Basin yielded grades exceeding 13.8% Cu and 15.6 g/t Ag. Further exploration in this largely underexplored trend puts Copper North in a good position to expand its northern Canadian mineable assets. The past year at Carmacks has seen a new feasibility study and a letter of intent to cooperate with the Little Salmon First Nation; it is also within Selkirk traditional lands. Once the water use permit is secured, and additional funding is arranged, mining could proceed as early as 2016, with a speculated annual production of 30 million pounds of copper per year. With Carmacks' LOI, feasibility study, mine re-design, and additional exploration at Redstone, Dr. Eyre is excited about Copper North's successful first year as a junior company, a springboard to the future under the "new team with a new approach." n february 2013 www.resourceworld.com 47
