Flake con- centrates sized above 150 µm command premium pricing. Canada Carbon Inc. [CCB-TSXV] holds a 100% interest in two graphite proper- ties in Ontario and two past producing graphite mines in Québec: the Miller Mine and the Asbury Mine. Canada Carbon is currently developing its, high purity, at surface, Hydrothermal Lump Vein (HLV) graphite, Miller Project. The company plans to develop the Miller East Block first with a 2015 produc- tion goal; the Miller West Block will be developed concurrently and is anticipated to go into production in 2016. On June 17, 2014 Canada Carbon affirmed that the Miller hydrothermal lump/vein graphite is nuclear grade material. Significantly, nuclear purity threshold was achieved without hydrometallurgical processing. Canada Strategic Metals Inc. [CCJ- TSXV; CJCFF-OTC] has a large graphite portfolio comprising 16 graphite proper- ties in Québec. On their Lac des Iles West property, an airborne survey has revealed an 8 km by 400 m anomalous, electromag- netic trend. Cavan Ventures Inc. [CVN-TSXV] announced, on January 22, 2014, plans for up to 2,400 metres diamond drill program at their Buckingham and Tetepiska-East graphite properties in western and north- eastern Québec, respectively. On June 3, 2014, Cavan announced it had exposed graphite-rich zones as a result of trenching on its 100%-owned Buckingham property, adjacent to the historic Walker Graphite Mine. The Lac Guéret graphite project is the subject of advanced exploration being conducted by Mason Graphite. Eagle Graphite Corp. [private] oper- ates one of only two natural flake graphite mines operating in North America with production facilities near the City of Nelson in southeastern British Columbia, Canada. The mine produces high carbon flake graphite. Energizer Resources Inc. [EGZ-TSX; ENZR-OTCQX] is developing its 100%- owned, flagship, Molo graphite project in southern Madagascar. The company released a Preliminary Economic Assessment (PEA) on the project in February 2012 and has initiated a Full Feasibility Study (FS). The company reported the completion of a pilot plant operation that generated 12 tonnes of finished graphite concentrate for the purposes of evaluation by potential strategic partners. The FS is expected to be completed and released to the market by Q4 2014. Flinders Resources Ltd. [FDR-TSXV] owns 100% of the Woxna Graphite Mine in central Sweden. The Woxna Mine and processing facility operated from 1996 to 2001, when production was halted due to falling graphite prices. The company reports that plant refurbishment is on track to allow for recommencement of pro- duction in July 2014. Blair Way, President & CEO, stated, in a June 17, 2014 news release, "The final parts of the processing plant are coming together and the pile of crushed ore is growing in readiness to feed the mill. We are weeks away from the wet commissioning of the processing plant." Focus Graphite Inc. [FMS-TSXV; FCSMF-OTCQX] reported, on June 25, 2014, the results of its Feasibility Study for their 100%-owned, crystalline flake graphite, Lac Knife Project located in the Côte Nord region of Québec. Don Baxter, President and COO, said: "With the Feasibility Study in hand, an offtake with an end-user signed as well as bat- tery tested spherical graphite, Focus has positioned itself as a leader in the graph- ite space, with no other company having reached this level of development." The study was based on a 25-year mine life that produced a Pre-tax Net Present Value (NPV) of $383 million calculated at a discounted cash flow (DCF) rate of 8% Pre-tax, the financial model has an Internal Rate of Return (IRR) of 30.1% and a capital payback period of 3.0 years. The after tax financial model has an NPV of $224 million calculated at a DCF rate of 8%, and with an IRR of 24.1% and a capital payback of 3.2 years. Graphite One Resources Inc.'s [GPH- TSXV; GPHOF-OTCQX] 100%-owned Graphite Creek Project hosts a high- grade, large-flake deposit located on the Seward Peninsula of Alaska. On February 28, 2014, Graphite One announced an NI 43-101 report documenting the increase of the existing inferred resource by 67% to 284.71 Mt of 4.5% graphite. "Based on the size of the resource, flake content and potential, we believe this to be the largest reported flake graphite deposit in North America, and look to continue our aggressive approach in 2014 to advancing the project towards production," stated Anthony Huston, President and CEO of Graphite One. Great Lakes Graphite Inc.'s [GLK- TSXV; SHGIF-OTCQX] graphite properties in Québec include the Buckingham Area Graphite Project, the Lochaber Graphite Project and the Summit-Gaber property. Great Lakes Graphite and Valterra Resource Corp. [VQA-TSXV] have entered into a strategic alliance to develop, produce and market graphite product from Valterra's Bobcaygeon Project in southern Ontario where grab and chip sampling results of up to 28.1% Cg from recent regional prospect- ing identified three new graphite zones: Salerno, Crystal, and 4South. Imerys Graphite & Carbon [private] operates the Lac des Iles Mine in Québec, Canada which produces 15,000 tpa of flake graphite concentrate and is one of only two active flake graphite mines in North America. Lara Exploration Ltd. [LRA-TSXV] reported on January 14, 2014 results of its exploration work at the Canindé graphite project in Ceará State, Brazil, conducted on behalf of partner Focus Graphite Inc. Several new flake graphite occurrences, some with relatively high grades, have been identified. Focus can earn an initial 51% interest in the project by spending $2.5 million on exploration (including a minimum of 2,000 metres of drilling) and issuing 500,000 shares to Lara by December 14, 2015.
