Exploring TURKEY ate term. Mine production from open-pit operations on the Uzumlu (Pentagon) license began in mid-September and to date has generated about 1,100 tonnes of DSO (direct-shippable ore), which has been trucked to Mersin, the Turkish port of export. Red Crescent has other projects in Turkey, including the Sivas copper project and the Tufanbeyli zinc project. Stratex International [STI-London AIM] is an exploration and development company focusing on gold and high-value base metals in Turkey. In Turkey, Stratex is advancing toward gold production at the Inlice gold development project through its JV with private Turkish company, NTF Insaat Ticaret Ltd Sti, with first gold pour targeted for 2013. Their Altıntepeis Project is also targeted to go into production by 2013 through a JV with private Turkish contract gold mining company Bahar Madencilik, subject to outcome of scoping and feasibility studies. Elsewhere in Turkey, exploration is being fast-tracked at four key projects – Öksüt, Altunhisarand Hasançelebi (all gold) and the Muratdere (copper-gold-silvermolybdenum-rhenium) – though JVs with major international companies Centerra Exploration B.V. (two projects) and Teck Madencilik Sanayi Ticaret A.S., and Lodos Maden Yatırım Sanayii ve Ticaret AŠ., the wholly-owned mining investment company of a Turkish investment bank. Teck Resources Ltd. [VH-TSXV] has been conducting a surface mapping, soil sampling and trenching on its Demirdere gold-copper-iron prospect. Demirdere is part of Valhalla's 18,567-hectare Sarp property in northwest Turkey. The Demirdere prospect is centered on an iron-coppergold skarn system, with multiple historic small-scale mines and smelting dating back to antiquity. Zimtu Capital Corp. [ZC-TSXV] is a junior mineral prospect generator; as well they help start-up companies to go public.
